Astra II (2021)
Astra II was presented at the ALL INN exhibiton in Het HEM in Zaandam. Astra is a translation of a body made into a sculptural installation. The constructing of a body resulted in the use of hard en soft materials that were transformed into a dialogue of fragmented organic shapes, patterns and sculptures. This installation communicates the mystery and beauty of our inner and outer physical life. The question of new life, fertility and death. The patterns and shapes refer to growth, the natural color palette represents the biological tissue of the body and the materials forms in a natural way from my body and hands. Astra features a body-to-body relationship. The relationship between both artist and art piece and viewer and art piece, making the viewer an essential participant in the installation. The triangle construction of the installation represents the cave, the house and the uterus.
